About Wide Format Laminating

Wide Format Laminators are ideal for use with large applications such as advertising signs and banners. All large-format laminators are floor models, (some can be placed on a table) and can handle documents anywhere from 42 “- 63″ wide. For two-sided laminate, two rolls of film are single whereas, using a roll laminate. There are a variety of laminating film on the market today, but the most commonly used thermal film. Thermal film is composed of two layers, a polyester layer and an adhesive layer. During the lamination, the adhesive is heated and melted. It is then pressed into the document as a binder. As it cools, it solidifies and forms a permanent seal between the document and the film. One form of trimming is usually required to roll lamination. The lamination is usually for larger volume terms, as it can run at higher speeds and in a continuous roll.

Many large-format laminators also have the ability to be mounted on foam board, and this lamination (pressure-sensitive laminating). Pressure Sensitive Laminating is laminate or adhesive rollers under high pressure without the use of heat and electricity, making them environmentally friendly.
