Answer by Buckleigh The self laminating pouches that I have used do work. They are designed to stick to themselves, NOT the item that you are put in them. This is a good thing, as there may be a day that you don’t want the item encased in plastic, so your item is not damaged by a sticky piece of plastic.
The pouch works like this: Two sides of the pouch are open; you slide the item into the closed corner, trim the clear plastic, leaving about 1/8″-1/4″ selvage. This edge is key, as this is what keeps the pouch closed, and your item protected.
