I'm making a purse out of laminated magazine pages. I have a sewing machine, what kind of thread should I use?

Do they make plastic thread?
Where do you buy it?
Will it work on laminated magazine pages?
Can you use plastic thread in a sewing machine?

I’d go with nylon thread. Another option might be some plastic lacing/gimp. You could punch holes and lace it up.

    Sounds like a cute idea!

Use monofiliment (fishing line)…just get a thin one…and yes you can sew with it! I’ve made several projects with it before! It even comes in various different colors!

I agree with both choices already listed. Best would be to try each and then see what works the best.

I have 2 kinds of lamination materials. One is like a soft vinyl and one is like a heavy celophane. The soft vinyl could be sewn with clear plastic thread-I got some at a Joann’s years ago, still have it. I would glue strategic places first, let it dry well and then stitch with a long stich. I don’t think I’d try to sew the celophane type. Yes, I’ve use plastic (vinyl) thread in my machine, and then vacuumed it thoroughly when I was all done. Another option I’ve seen on sewn vinyl is using seam bias tape as a stabilizer/strenghtener on the seams. Perhaps this would look good on your purse?
