The new Apache AL9 laminator features an extremely sleek 1.5″ profile. The overall product dimensions are 14.2×6.3×1.5″. Yet despite its small size, the AL9 includes the features of much larger laminator costing several times the price. For example, the AL9 uses 4 rollers, 2 on each side of the heating element. This micro machine came via Cheetah Mounts, an Amazon seller, whom I might add is an excellent sales partner. That said, this mighty midget gets the job done. Not that I would suggest you use this for production laminating for sure, but for luggage tags, business cards, 8×10 or 8.5×11 papers, it does a good job. It heats up in less than a minute and also cools down fast for storage. Items roll through in their carriers smoothly and one pass is sufficient on thinner stock for adequate adhesion. Thicker laminate, such as luggage tags, can take two passes to do the job I find acceptable, although one pass sealed them adequately, and would pass most people’s test just fine. I’m a bit picky!

For the occasional laminator user, I’d recommend this machine. Cold or hot laminating, 4 rollers rather than two and easy to use and store. If there is a single setback, it’s the packaging which is a bit on the slim side, and if UPS does it’s usual drop-kick through the goalpost of life with it, it may not survive. That’s not the fault of the laminator, for sure, just rough handling in shipping.

My first laminator arrived damaged from lack of packaging, not poor handling by the shipper. The Cheetah Mounts staff was FABULOUS to work with. They made my return easy and replaced it with one packaged better. I just used the laminator for the first time and all went well. If you can get Cheetah Mounts to put the original laminator box in ANOTHER box for shipping, you will be good to go!

I just received my laminator in great condition, plugged it in and realized I had no laminating pouches. Ran to the store and bought some, and laminated my insurance card. (Since then I ordered some from Amazon) The laminator works as described. I did notice that it sealed a little better if I ran it through twice. When I ordered my laminator, I contacted CheetahMounts and requested that they use a little extra packaging, since I saw in other reviews that the laminator arrived damaged from shipping. My email was immediately replied to, and since I had requested expidited shipping, it came boxed inside a UPS Second Day Air Box and was in perfect condition. I am very please to do buisness with CheetahMounts and would do so again. I would recommend this Laminator to anyone interested in an inexpensive solution to laminating.

First off I don’t have much experience with laminators. I purchased this one as it was the cheapest one on Amazon and it looked stylish.

I have been laminating smaller cards about 3.5 x 5.5 and no matter how I change the insertion method, amount in the pouch (from a single one to 3-4 at max), the end product if full or air bubbles and is of mediocre quality at best.

Running it through a 2nd time cleans up many of the air bubbles and other imperfections but not all of them.

You might dismiss this that a cheap one won’t be as good as the expensive ones, but even after 2 or 3 passes I feel more like my items were ruined rather than protected. I expected it to produce something without multiple visible flaws and it fails.

If you just want to archive things maybe this would work for you, but anything you intend to display or show is no dice.
